OIRF Scholarship
Program
The Old Island Restoration Foundation
established the Nancy Ordway Jameson Scholarship to honor
the former director of the Oldest House Museum in Key West,
Florida. Mrs. Jameson spent more than 22 years as a volunteer
for OIRF and 13 years as volunteer director of the museum.
She enlivened the history of the former sea captain's house
- the oldest house in South Florida -- by securing and mounting
exhibits relating to early Key West seafarers, focusing on
the wrecking trade of the mid-1880s.
The $2,500 scholarship is available to a graduating Key West
high school senior with plans to continue his or her education
or to a former Key West graduate enrolled in an advanced
program. The awards are based on general scholarship and
extracurricular activities, such as school programs, community
service, and employment, as well as a strong interest in
any or all of the following areas: history, architecture
and building (with a focus on history), maritime concerns,
and museum work. OIRF hopes that the awardees will bring
back to the Keys the fruits of their scholastic labors.
Application forms will be posted on this website in the
spring. |
