The Clintons Visit the Oldest House in Key West
The gardens at the Oldest House provide the perfect backdrop for this successful democratic fund raiser.
Large crowds gathered in front of the Oldest House on Duval Street last Saturday, Jan. 22, hoping to catch a glimpse of one of America’s most famous couples – Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Sen. Clinton (D-NY) was in Key West to attend several fundraising events, which included a luncheon in the newly refurbished gardens of the Oldest House. On a perfect, sunny Key West day, Clinton spoke to the enthusiastic guests and addressed numerous questions presented to her. To the delight of everyone present, President Bill Clinton arrived unexpectedly after a stroll down Duval Street and joined the luncheon guests.
During a brief tour of the Wrecker’s Museum in the Oldest House prior to the luncheon, Senator Clinton inquired about the Key West wreckers and the city’s chicken population, which she had heard the night before while staying at the Truman Little White House.
When the Clintons left the Oldest House to catch a plane that would take them to Donald Trump’s wedding in Palm Beach, they took a few moments to greet the waiting crowd.
