Old Island Restoration Foundation Accepting Grant Proposals

The Board of Directors of the Old Island Restoration Foundation is accepting historic restoration grant proposals for funding consideration. The OIRF grant program is intended to provide financial assistance to projects of historical significance that may not be undertaken or not completed without such assistance.
Funding is limited to $10,000 per project. Tax-exempt organizations and individuals may apply for grants. Only projects in the City of Key West are eligible. The funds are only for the rehabilitation, restoration, and reconstruction of historic property.

Grants will be awarded based on the demonstrated need and urgency of the project and the probability of success of the project based on the proposed plans, schedule, and resources. Preference will be given to grant proposals containing project cost sharing between OIRF and the proposing organization. Preference will be given to grant proposals from individuals based on need. Grant funds will be disbursed on a cost-reimbursement basis except in hardship situations where the timing of fund disbursement may be adjusted to the project needs, at the discretion of OIRF

Proposals (5 copies) should be mailed to OIRF, PO Box 689, Key West 33041 no later than July 15, 2005. . Past grant recipients have included: the Custom House Museum, the East and West Martello Forts, Habitat for Humanity, the Heritage House, Key West Lighthouse, San Carlos Institute, Wesley House, and Zion AME, among others.
