Dedicated to
preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of Key West, Florida.
How to volunteer
The success of OIRF and its mission relies largely on the participation
of volunteers.
The House and Garden tours require from 5 to sometimes as many
as 15 docents per house for each 3- to 4-hour period to take tickets
and describe the homes to visitors. Docents also greet visitors
in the Wreckers Museum at the Oldest House and at the Mallory Museum
in the Hospitality House. Committees of the Board look for volunteers
to help in planning and executing events, and the administrative
office appreciates help in preparing mailings to the membership,
delivering brochures and posters, and other activities.
At the end of each season, a party is held in the gardens of the
Oldest House to honor those who have volunteered their time and
energies to the various projects.
If you wish to participate in any of these activities, call (305)
294-9501, write to OIRF, P.O. Box 689, Key West FL 33041, or send
an email to
. We would love to have your help!
